One Proud Mama!

Look what Hunter caught all by himself! I don't think I have ever caught a fish that big myself!!

This was his first year going on the annual family fishing trip with Papa and Daddy and he had a blast!

Official VCUG results

They called today with the official results and the report shows a grade 4 out of 5 reflux into the right kidney and so they are going to put him on a daily dose of amoxicillian for 1 month, and when he is 2 months they will put him on bactrim?

She said that b/c the VCUG did show some reflux the doctor may not want to do another one right away but instead do the nuclear scan to try to find the obstruction and the cause of the hydronephrosis.

Now it's a waiting game to see if it clears on it's own or will require future surgery.

Terrific Thursday!

So it's Thursday - time for me to tell you about all things terrific - hence...

This website has so many funny posters created by viewers!
You can go to this website and get free ringtones - there are some really funny ones too - check 'em out!!!

Scroll down about 1/2 way down the page and there is a LIVE Naked Mole Rat Cam - what could be more exciting than watching animals that look like penises whenever you want!

AND - a funny story to wrap it up!

My bewbs... again

I know you got your weekly (or lifetime) dose of talking about my bewbies BUT I just wanted to add that this is the 5th week that I have had to wear a bra 24/7 (except for showers) and that sucks. The biggest down-side to breastfeeding EVER!

I could use one of these bras - but the look of them just cracks me up!

Trick yourself into Saving Money

I so needed this article...

It has some very interesting ways to save money by tricking yourself. I think saving money is so much harder than just paying bills :(

A day full of bullsh*t and still no answers

I had to take Colt today to Children's Hospital in Detroit for his VCUG and it was horrible. After 3 failed attempts at a catheter (and over an hour of wailing from my little baby) they got nothing. They couldn't get the catheter in far enough into his bladder to fill it up to see if what the issue was.

Honestly - I could have handled him crying thru one catheter and then the test BUT to hear him scream all that time to go thru extra steps AND THEN get no answers - it was horrible - just horrible.

They did get one image of his bladder refluxing up to his kidney, but since they only saw it once I don't really know how much they can tell from that. I think they were willing to try the cath again but I refused. I only allowed them to try the 3rd time b/c the nurse practitioner from the pediatric urology department came down to do it. I told the nurse practitioner to let the doctor know that we are NOT doing another VCUG so he needed another plan of action. Horrible - it was horrible. The technologist made the comment "oh, he's calming down" and I just looked at her and said "honestly, I don't think he has anything left in him"

And just to kick us when were were already down - I realized once I got to the exit of the hospital that i lost my valet parking pass and had to back track all the way thru the hospital looking for it - tears streaming, red eyes - didn't find it but someone else found it within a few minutes and turned it in for me.

Today could not have went worse...

Colt has his VCUG test tommorrow morning at Children's Hospital - keep us in your thoughts :)

I know all 2 of my loyal readers (hopefully 2!) have been dying to hear about my bewbies - so here goes.

Breastfeeding Guide for New Moms

Week 1:
Feed baby every 2-3 hours as recommended.

At Night: Jump up at first sound of baby every 2-3 hours. Nurse baby until he starts to doze off - change his diaper to wake him up - nurse again until he is satisfied and then put back in in bassinet.

Week 2:
Feed baby every 3 hours (Milk is definitely in - so baby doesn't need to eat as often.)

At Night: Moan at first sound of baby - nurse until baby starts to doze - change diapers - nurse again until you realize it is 3 hours later, your boob is still flopping in the wind and you were sleeping sitting straight up on the couch - nurse again because it's been 3 hours - go back to bed.

Week 3 and on:
Feed baby whenever they scream (but only after they have really cleared out their lungs!)

At Night: Act like you don't hear baby fussing until it may wake up your other kids (you do NOT want the other kids up in the middle of the night!) Reach over and flip out your bewb and pop in babies mouth b/c he is laying right next to you b/c it takes too much time to get up and down all night. Go back to sleep. When you hear baby fuss again, put away first bewb and pop the other one into his mouth. At some point, change his diaper IF it feels full. Go back to sleep.

Wanna know the most expensive way to lose 30 lbs?

Give birth! No, seriously! I am down 30 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight with no effort at all! I know most people gain weight while pregnant and struggle to get the weight back off, all I can say is "sucks to be them!" ha ha ha There are a few perks for being a big ole girl!

But really - I may have lost the 30 lbs, but it was the most expensive way to do it! Not only did the birth cost us a little over $3000 - we will be paying for him the next 18+ years!

In Plain Sight

New show on USA on Sunday nights - watch it - it's really good!

Dr's Visit with all 3 monkeys

I had to take all 3 boys to the ped's office last Thursday (yeah, yeah - I know it's been 4 days since then but it's taken me that long to recooperate from the trip!) and it was an interesting visit to say the least. Hunter needed his 4 year shots (3 of them and a finger poke!), Dane needed his 3 yr check-up and Colt needed his 1 month check up. Jamie said I was brave to take all three and I re-butted with "I'm not brave - I have no choice!"

So after we get there they let me know that since Dane had a physical in January, he can't have another one until next year - so he is done before we even start. After we get into the exam room, the nurse does all of the preliminary stuff with Hunter and Colt and we wait for the doctor.

Side Note: Do you know how awkward it is trying to collect a urine sample from a 4 year old??

Anyway, once the doctor comes in he exams Colt first, and behind him I notice Hunter and Dane pointing their butts at each other and making farting noises. I discreetly said, "knock that off boys!" Of course, they didn't. After Colt's exam and Hunter's exam it was shot time - OH BOY!

Hunter knew he was getting the shots, but still was nervous. After each shot his scream got louder and on the 3rd shot he was absolutely crazy! The shots were managable though - it was the finger poke that sent him over the edge. He tried every which way but loose to keep his hand away from her. It took me and a nurse to hold him down and another nurse to do the poking. He acted like they were cutting his finger off. Nosey Dane even got kicked in the face during the finger poke debacle.

So anyway- that was the exciting trip I had.

Post - Note: Dane went pee twice during the 45 minutes we were there and then waited until we were in the car and I was feeding the baby to let me know he had to pee yet again. With really no options available (he couldn't wait while I fed the baby) he just peed his pants.

A perfect ending to a perfectly awful trip :)

Check out my songs!

I added a music player to my blog. Sadly enough - these songs were the ones that came to my head first (lame, I know)

Have any suggestions for songs? Drop me a comment :)

Ran-dumb thoughts

-Why do professional athletes make so much freakin' money. Do some football players really need to make $50 million for 3 years (or probably more) - why not pay him 1/2 that and do something good with the rest of them money. That could be part of his contract "Joe Blow - we are going to give you $25 million for 3 years and donate $25 million to poor, starving children" I dare him to say "HELL TO THE NO" publicly - he would look like an ass. That may just be the key to getting millionaires to help out - humiliate them into doing it. I'm not above that.

-While I'm on the top of assinine amounts of money - I can't believe how much money is spent on politics. Seriously? Hilary spent $212 million dollars to try to get a position that pays $400,000 a year - that's someone who has EXCELLENT business sense - NOT! According to this article, she could have used the money to really make a difference in a lot of people's lives - rather than get diddly squat for it.

It really makes me lose respect for our leaders when they WASTE so much money.

-Ok, so now that I am on politics - I have a new rant. Why in the hell do I have to hear "I'm *insert name here* and I approve this message at the end of EVERY political commercial. I guess I understand it for some commercials if someone is speaking on behalf of the president but there was one on yesterday and the entire commercial was McCain sitting there talking - and at the end it said "I'm JimBob McCain and I approve this message" WTF? Really, you do? I'm glad to know you didn't make all that shit up that you just said.

Whew! I am impressed with myself for tackling politics. That is about as political as I get :)

...and so it begins

So Colt has his first official cold. I knew it was a matter of time before he got it b/c the big boys have had it for about 11 days now and "wash your hands!" and "cover your mouth!" only can be said so many times to a 3 and 4 year old.

It is making him slightly miserable and the only thing that soothes him is being held... can you see what my day is going to be like?

Just so you know - there was NOTHING wrong with him :)

This was created for me!!

Laughing my ass off! I know they created this for me, right mom?

Actually - it really isn't "together" it is more like just the grandbabies owning grandma - but still!

This is good advice!

I wish more people would follow this, seriously. You should only be with someone (or be friends with someone) if BOTH people make the other a priority. It's not worth fighitng for a friendship or being used in a relationship.
Luckily for me I have the best husband in the world!!!

Parents - not the smartest creatures...

Why oh why do we teach our spawn to be independent AND vocal - what a mess we create! We should teach them to be vocal at like 17 1/2 and then push them out the door at 18 - that would be perfect.

If I had not taught my kids to be vocal - I would have not heard the following today:

Dane - "My wiener tickles!" (while shaking it around)

Hunter - "But nothing!"

Dane - "I can't close my eyes" (during naptime)

Hunter - I don't have to listen to you"

etc, etc... see the mess I have created....

Last Day of School

Friday (June 6th) was bittersweet for me - Hunter finished pre-school and Dane finished his first year of pre-school :(

They had a Beach Day for their last day and the boys had a ton of fun. There was face-painting, sprinklers, a bounce house, bubble table, small pools and snacks for all :)

My Supa-stars!

So I let the boys have a little "studio" time today to showcase their talent. *snicker*

Hunter is the KING of making shit up when singing a song! If you can distinguish any other words than "shoot gun" - kudos to you!

Dane is slightly more musically inclined (very slightly!) but he actually sang a real song! :)

And where was Baby Colt during all this excitement???

Colt's Kidney Issue

Well, we met with the pediatric urologist yesterday down in Detroit at Children's Hospital and he said that Colt's Hydronephrosis is pretty severe and he needs more testing. On the positive side, after reviewing the ultrasound pictures he did say that he thinks it is likely the cause of Colt's issue is reflux which isn't usually a surgical issue - but will just need prophylactic antibiotics and monitoring. So now we are waiting for the office to call to schedule the next test. The test they are going to do first is the voiding cystourethrogram and hopefully he won't need another one.

I'm not touching you...

I didn't realize that 4 yr old's knew this annoying phrase :( I thought I had a few more years.... crap.

School's Out For Summer...

...and I am going to go crazy!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH! I am a little worried about being at home 24/7 with a 4 yr old, a 3 yr old and a newborn :( I mean, I love 'em more than anything in the world - but sometimes I just need a BREAK! Fortunately I have awesome parents (and family for that matter) that are always willing to help out so all I have to do is call and say HEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPP! and they will be right there!

For their last day at school they had a "beach day." They had a bunch of little kiddie pools set up, sprinklers, a bounce house, face-painting and all of the regular play ground stuff. The boys had a blast! Luckily the weather co-operated (well, over co-operated b/c it was freakin' 90 degrees!)

It is also kinda sad to me that Hunter is out of pre-school :( I can't believe he is almost 5 - he is growing up so fast!

2 more days! EEK!

"You don't know nothing"

This is what my 4 yr old told me today. As a matter of fact, no one in the family knows anything - AND he knows everything.

Ahhh...and so it begins....

Ahhhhhhhhhh, P&Q

That's peace and quiet... Big Boys are in bed, Baby Boy is dozing on and off and it is soooooo quiet around here.

Today was a nice & lazy day. We just hung out this morning and then Jamie and my dad took the Big Boys fishing so Colt and I just chilled (ok, slept!) while they were gone.

Colt was actually awake more than 1 hour total today - it was nice to see his eyes!!! :)

Ok - he's awake now - gotta go :)
