Our Family!

Jamie and I took some pics with the boys today - they turned out SUPER CUTE!

Grandma & Me

I took this picture on Dane's 3rd birthday and it couldn't have turned out nicer. He loves my mom soooooooooo much and it is nice to capture that in a pic :)

Happy Birthday Dane!

I can't believe my baby (well - I guess now my middle child) is already 3! We had a great day with friends and family :)

Look at those Bellies!

I know it is a little late - but check out this pic of Jamie and I right before we went to the hospital!!

Too too funny!

Here are a few pics of Colt on his Bili-Blanket...

The world is in peril!

Where oh Where is the defender of the universe????

Time flies...

I swear those last weeks of pregnancy were the slooooooooooooooowest weeks EVER, but yet this past week has flown by! Colt is a week old already and is completely spoiled rotten. :)

The boys love him and want to hold him all the time. They are fascinated with the idea of breastfeeding and I even caught Hunter trying to breastfeed Dane - funniest moment ever! I just wish I had had my camera!

We did have to get a biliblanket to help combat jaundice - but yesterday he was given the "all-clear" from the blanket. Now we just wait for the next big hurdle next week to check his kidney to see if it is still obstructed :( If it is still obstructed, then we will have to meet with a pediatric urologist in Detroit or Ann Arbor and he may need surgery to correct it :( I am keeping my fingers crossed that it clears up on it's own (the doctors say there is a good chance that it will) so my baby won't need to have surgery.

I will keep you posted

He's Finally Here!

Of course, I am a few days late BUT come on, 3 boys under 5 - yeah, I get a few day reprieve!!!

So here is the birthstory :)

Colt James

Born: 5/21/08 @ 7:45am

7 lbs. 2 oz. & 18 1/2 inches long

Here goes… So this birth went MUCH better than my other 2 inductions. We were induced at 39 weeks for Hydroneprosis (enlarged kidney) on Colt. I checked into the hospital at 9 pm – I was dialated to 1-2 and 0% effaced. They started Cervidil at 10:30pm. The plan was to do another round of Cervidil at 2:30am and then start the Pitocin at 6am. Well around 12am I started to feel really really crampy – not super painful, but it was every 2-3 minutes, so no rest for me L That continued to 2:50am when they checked me again and I had progressed to a 2-3 cm dialation with 50% effacement. Since I had made so much progress with 1 round of Cervidil; they decided to hold off on another round of that and just start the Pitocin at 6:30am as planned.

Well, about 20 minutes later – 2 nurses and a resident stormed my room saying that Colt’s heartrate had dropped to 60 (it had been 120-160) so they needed to break my water and insert an internal monitor to see what was going on. That was painful! BUT before she broke my water, I was already dialated to 4cm (only 20 min later!) When they got the monitor on his head, his heart rate was registering at 140 instantly and in retrospect I think the heart rate monitor picked up my heart rate at 60 instead of his and they probably over-reacted.

So, after they broke my water the contractions became incredibly painful. I instantly requested my epidural BUT since they hadn’t expected me to progress as fast as I did – I hadn’t had enough saline pushed thru, so they had to get another bag and ½ of saline into me BEFORE they could order the epi (I could have shot someone – seriously) I offered to drink the saline but they declined that offer.

So now it is around 3:45am or so, contractions are kicking my ass and all I can think about is how I am going to miss the epidural and have a freakin’ natural childbirth that I did NOT want! After they order the epidural they now have to wait for the lady to come down b/c now she is an emergency L I was really scared to progress to fast to get the epi and was 6cm and 80% effaced before she showed up.

It was about 1 hour and 25 minutes from the time my water broke until I got the epidural. I labored for another hour and ½ and was feeling really good (actually slipped in and out of sleep) when they said I was complete but the baby was really high still (-2) At this point I still was feeling no pain – I could tell when I was contracting, but not painful really. I started to push and it took about 5 sets of pushes for Colt James to enter the world at 7:45 am! I never needed the pitocin, which was a new experience for me! I really think that since I couldn’t really feel anything – I pushed a lot harder and was able to bring him down and out so quickly.
Even though that 1 ½ of hard labor was excruciating – it was nice to have a pain-free delivery. Baby and mama are doing great and were home the next day!

Well, tonight is the night. I am being induced starting at 9pm so by this time tommorrow I SHOULD have a new little bundle of shit and piss - oh, I mean joy! :)

I am totally freaking out about labor and my ever supportive mama said "well, you should be!" lmao! She's right - I should be - labor sucks big time!

So - I will post pics and update when I get home and get time (so sometime around 2009 or so)

:) Ciao!

Hormonal Much?

I am a freakin' raving lunatic.

Poor Jamie and boys.

Scratch that - poor boys, Jamie is the one responsible for my lunacy!

Can't wait to hear....

Friday Randomness

So this is my last Friday as a mom of 2 - who woulda thunk it?!?! I am getting super excited (and scared shitless) about having Colt now - but can't turn back now! I have all of those soon-to-be-a-new-mom thoughts and I all I keep thinking is that in a few years it will seem as if he has always been a part of our family. I am always amazed that the boys are only 4 1/2 and 3 YET I barely remember life without either of them!

Of course I have the usual worries about going from 2 to 3 kids (we will be outnumbered NOW!) and also the fact that I will be on diaper duty AGAIN! :(

Ah well, this is the life we chose and I wouldn't change it for anything (well, except maybe Paul Walker!) :)

What is sexier than leaky boobs and hairy legs?

That's right - nothing!

I'm hawt....

Kindness of "Strangers"

Whereas I wouldn't consider my online friends anything other than genuine friends - some people may just regard them as "strangers." A lot of people have a hard time grasping that people you meet online can end up being awesome, got-your-back-always friends. (or pervs who just want naked pics -fortunately for me that isn't the case!)

Anyway - I have an AWESOME set of online friends that go above and beyond some of my real-life friends ten-fold. You know who you are and you guys rock!!!

Peace! :)

My Boys!

So I finally took the boys to get their pictures taken and it was pretty painless! They actually listned very well and were really really good!

A visual

This is what miserable looks like - don't let the smile fool ya.

Everyone is oh so helpful!

From my mom to my friends to the nurse at the OB office - everyone has suggestions on how to kick start labor. Well, let's just review some of those options.

Ummm, am I the ONLY person who remembers what got me into this miserable mess?!?

I can barely choke down my pre-natal vitamins and you think I will be able to drink that nasty shit???

I can imagine this is much easier accomplished when it doesn't feel like a head is coming out of your crotch. I'm just sayin'

Now this one I may try b/c it doesn't seem too awful or tiring BUT we don't have a birthing ball at our house :( I may have Jamie bring it home from the clinic.

I want to meet the crazy ass person who actually thought of stimulating their nipples for hours on end to induce labor. Perv...

So in wrap up I am too lazy to do anything to jump start this labor but I am still going to bitch about being pregnant every waking second of every day :)

Let the countdown begin...

Well, remember last week when I was super stoked b/c my body was actually dialating on it's own - scratch that. Yesterday at my appt I was ZERO cm dialated - bunch of bullshit if you ask me.

Anyway - enough bitching (yeah right) for now.

So, the OB scheduled my induction for next Tuesday night EVEN THOUGH last week they told me I could probably go a few days earlier - jerks! I know in the grand scheme of things it will work out just fine - but I am just sad that I have to miss a few things for the boys' school next week as well as the pain of finding someone to watch the boys in the middle of the week for me :(

The part that I am freaking out about now though is it is a full moon on Tuesday night and they will only let me come in to be induced IF they have space and you know how the full moon makes people go into labor!!! So if I call on Tuesday night to see if they have room, and they say no - I may just go postal.

So anyway - I only have 6 more nights at home and then it is Baby Colt time!

Friday, May 9, 2008

I was just about to think of something witty to write and I when I moved my leg I think I pissed my pants - so I have to take care of that. Maybe I can be witty instead of pissy tommorrow.

From the mouth of Dane....

"Mama - you better get me some crackers or I am going to blow you up!"

Yeah, do you think he got those crackers???

Changes, Changes, Changes

As if having a new baby in the next few weeks isn't enough - Jamie starts a new job on Monday :) Luckily enough they are letting him start at part-time status until after the baby is born so that is something he won't have to stress about. This new job wasn't something we were anticipating BUT too many circumstances came into play and he didn't have much of a choice but to make a change. He is super excited about the new job and I hope he is extremely happy with his decision once he starts.

It is going to be strange around here though b/c I am used to him making his own schedule and popping in and out of the house throughout the day whereas now he will be on a set schedule. He is excited though because he can work 7 to 3:30 and still have a lot of day-time left :)

Baby Update - 37 weeks

So I had my 37 week appt today and everything looked GREAT! Which is good, buttttttttttttttt strange to me. All along there have been complications and worries, etc - and now all of a sudden THINGS ARE GREAT! WTH??!?! I am super happy about that - but just out of sorts about it. I guess I am waiting for something to go wrong.

My blood pressure was 102/67 (has been pretty good all along)
Urine looked good (who would have guessed I had good lookin' urine!)
My amniotic fluid levels were 15.2 cm (up from 14 cm last week)
Baby was super active at the office (had decreased activity at home)
They didn't check the kidney size (it's been enlarged since 18 weeks) but I am sure it is still enlarged.

Basically - it is a waiting game (as in most pregnancies!) I did talk to the OB about inducing earlier than 39 weeks, like at 38 1/2 weeks and he said that would be fine. So, my next appt is May 13th and if I am still not in labor (which I won't be) they will schedule my induction date for me.

Oh yeah, still 1 cm dialated - bull crap!

Man! Do I have some stories that could knock your socks off!!

Unfortunately, my family knows about my blog so I have to keep *those* stories on the down - low.

I cooked dinner tonight!

Whereas you may not think that warrants it's own blog entry - trust me, it does. It is not a daily occurance at my house. It was a good dinner too - baked/bbq chicken breasts, boiled potatoes, french bread and corn - Damn - I am as good as Martha FREAKIN' Stewart! (well, minus the millions of embezzled funds!)

For those of you who were near heart attack stage when you realized I ACTUALLY cooked dinner - you may want to skip the next part of this post.

I CLEANED THE KITCHEN WHILE COOKING DINNER TOO! Dishes (before they were Febreezed), wiped all the counters down, swept, mopped (well, rubbed a washcloth over the nasty spots with my foot) and even got lunches packed already for tommorrow.

I hope this is what nesting feels like - and I HOPE that means labor is soon - very soon! Hell, I think that deserves a dialation of 1 cm. in itself!

A Message from God....

Thought for the day...

Who would have guessed?!?!?

So - since this is my 3rd pregnancy you would think I would know the signs of labor or what it is like to go into labor, BUT for those of you that know me - you know that my body sucks and really doesn't know how to be a woman! In my previous pregnancies I was neither dialated or effaced prior to induction at full-term.

SO - low and behold, at my 36 week appt. I was 1 cm. dialated!!?! I was super excited for about 3.5 seconds until the OB said, "Let's see if we can stretchhhhhhhhhhhh your cervix a little more to get things rolling."

Well, at least that I is what I think she said.

My mind computed this as "Let's see if we can stret.... OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW WTF IS SHE DOING IN MY CROTCH?!?!??!"
People should warn you before they stretch ANYTHING on your body!

So who knows - I may actually have this baby without an induction (not that I am holding my breath!) I go back again on Tuesday (May 6th) to see if the stretching aka ripping my body in half worked or not. It better have worked dammit!

For those of you who have no idea what dialation is - here is a chart*.

*Not my actual Crotch!

My Boys!

This pic is about a month old but I just realized I hadn't posted a nice pic of my boys in a while :)

36 weeks

So this is a picture of me at 36 weeks. Don't mind the ugly face on the body - I photoshopped my sexy face so internet stalkers couldn't find me :)

Don't want to do your dishes even though you need too?

Just Febreeze 'em!

I am not going to tell you HOW I know this - but trust me, it extends the amount of time you can wait to do the dishes.

This face if freakin' hilarious - I have no idea why he is making it, but it makes me laugh everytime I see it!!!

Don't forget to remind me...

IF I EVER SAY "Being pregnant wasn't that bad!" remind me of weeks 36-40 PLEASE. I am feeling pretty freakin' miserable now. Tired, crampy, sore, achy, ninja-fighting from the inside out, etc...

The good news is I have 19 days or less WHO~HOO!

The bad news is... it get much MUCH MUCH MUCH worse before it gets better :(
